News: Atlus and Sega have finally given fans of their long running role-playing series, Persona, their first true look at the upcoming Persona 5. The trailer is comprised of the series usual flair and shots of characters dancing around, but it also provides gamers with their first look at actual gameplay and the impressive visuals that the PS4 is providing the franchise.
Thoughts: Developer Atlus have been creating high quality role-playing games for years, with their two most iconic series being the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games. While I have heard the praises for years it wasn’t until last year when I made sure to dive into their games, picking up Shin Megami Tensei IV on the Nintendo 3DS and Persona 4 Golden on the PS Vita.
The games were fantastic.
Tensei was unlike anything else on the Nintendo handheld but it was Persona 4 Golden on the Vita that really stuck with me. Great characters, great presentation, great story. The hours flew by as I laid in bed with Sony’s small handheld. I now knew what the fuss was about with Atlus and I was now anticipating the next entry in the series on PS4.
Persona 4 originally released in 2008 and in that time fans have been dying to play another entry in the franchise. The trailer shows off new characters and some high flying antics of a possible new villain or is he a hero? I have no idea. But the game looks great and the tease shows players jumping chandeliers and sneaking through hallways. Either way, I am on board and ready to play an Atlus game on a console for once.
