Rise of the Planet of the Apes was one of the bigger surprises of 2011. Not only was it attempting to resurrect a long dormant franchise and make it relevant again, but it had to do so with most still remembering the terrible Tim Burton 2001 version.
Luckily director Rupert Wyatt and company managed to tell an exciting story and do it with both state of the art effects and lots of heart. Andy Serkis once again brought a CG creation to life like never before and made audiences sympathize with Caesar and even rally behind him as his journey took a more darker turn.
With Dawn of the Planet of the Apes we jump forward in time. Humans have been fighting off extinction and the evolved apes have been trying to make a life for themselves in the world, but inevitably, the two will collide.
I’ll be checking this one out for sure.
