Deadly Premonition Greenlight

YAY! VOTE! DO IT! DO IT NOW!! – That is what I really wish to say in this post, but instead I will try to contain myself.

So it was recently revealed that Rising Star Games, developers of the cult hit Deadly Premonition, hope to bring the game to the PC platform via Steam, and that they now have a Steam Greenlight page in order to do so. If you are unfamiliar with the game then shame on you! But what you need to know is that it is a very bizarre open world horror title with heavy inspirations from shows such as Twin Peaks and the Twilight Zone. The writing is strange and the characters more so, the mystery is intriguing and the murders bizarre and the game is flawed but utterly terrific.

Deadly Premonition was originally released for the Xbox 360 to little fanfare and very different opinions from critics. Eric Brudvig of IGN gave the game a horrible score of 2 out of 10 while Destructoid’s Jim Sterling was enamored with it and tossed a perfect 10 its way. You were either drawn into the games crazy world and saw its quirks as endearing or you couldn’t stand its presentation and control issues and vehemently hated it. I was of the former.

The game was recently re released on the PlayStation 3 with a Directors Cut that spruced up the visuals, introduced a new control scheme, and added in some extra bells and whistles. According to Rising Star Games this hopeful release on the Steam platform will not only feature those improvements, but also some extra refinements and features such as Steam Achievements and Steam Cards. If you are a fan of strange stories, the horror genre, or just making peoples day’s, then you may want to Vote for Deadly Premonition to get its deserving Steam release.
