FarCry 3: Blood Dragon

Ubisoft has been teasing FarCry 3: Blood Dragon for some time now, with just this past week finally seeing a reveal of an official site, music, and trailer. But the crazy website describing the game showed up on April 1st, a sign that perhaps the entire thing has been a farce. With an aesthetic channeling late 80’s gaming, complete with the a horribly cheesy story synopsis and techno lighting everywhere the site is a fun gag, but could the game be something more than that? The site even had a teaser trailer which allowed players a glimpse of a smidge of potential gameplay towards the end.

The next day saw the release of music tracks for Blood Dragon hit the web, a sign that for sure there is something to this elaborate marketing. Also the tracks are very good. Today we have the first screenshots of the actual product to see with our eye things! The game definitely will keep an 80’s vibe with sci-fi weapons and enemies to boot. Gone is the ultra serious FarCry 3 and instead comes a bizarro version that feels more like Saints Row The Third than an FPS.

Whether this is DLC for the core game or turns out to just be a crazy downloadable release, Blood Dragon certainly looks like it can entertain. The “story” is…

  • The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.
