3DS Pikachu for NA and a Free Game!

Nintendo released a special edition Pikachu 3DS in Japan last year, but now the time has come for North American consumers to get their hands on it. The special edition, which is obviously all yellow with a black outline of the famous Pokemon, will be available for purchase on March 24th and will come with a 4GB memory card as well as retail for $199.99.

March 24th is the same day that Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and the forgettable Pokemon Mystery Dungeon release as well and Nintendo is holding a special promotion to coincide with them. If you register a 3DS XL and a copy of either game on Club Nintendo between now and April 30th you get a full free 3DS title! That is plenty of time for those interested in a 3DS (and you should be, terrific games!) to pick one up along with a copy of Luigi’s Mansion so that you can get another excellent game free of charge. The available games to choose from are below.

  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
  • Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!
  • Star Fox 64 3D
  • Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive!

Art Academy and Freakyforms are bleh, but those other titles are great and still retail for quite a bit! Super Mario 3D Land was one of my favorite games of 2011. With Fire Emblem and other terrific releases, this is a great deal for those that have been eyeing the 3DS hardware. Just buy a 3DS XL and a copy of Luigi’s Mansion before April 30th for the bargain.

PS: I don’t care about Pikachu, I want this badass 3DS to come to North America! Would grab it in a second!
